Gloss black E46 M3 is top 2 spec for that car and it’s not even close.

Shape: The E46 has so many subtle fender flares and lines. Black hides them in daylight, but at night under parking lot lights it turns into a mirror and every curve pops. It’s the stealth wealth look.

That factory color: Jet Black / Black Sapphire Metallic was the most common M3 color for a reason. It makes the car look lower, wider, more expensive. And CSL-style front bumper + gloss black = instant Batmobile.
The tradeoff: Gloss black is the HARDEST color to live with. Every swirl mark, every water spot from

Vancouver rain, every rock chip shows. You need to be paint-corrected and ceramic coated, and you have to hand wash it. If you don’t, it looks grey and tired in a week.

If you can keep it clean, black E46 is the one people remember 5 years later. It doesn’t date. It’s the only color where stock body looks modified.
