A student had to wade through chest-high floodwaters after being dropped off by a school bus in Port St. Lucie, Florida, on Monday (2 November).

Flash flood warnings were in place across parts of the state on Monday evening, with the National Weather Service warning that conditions could worsen from further downpours.

Port St. Lucie police also warned of significant water accumulation in the St. Lucie West area, urging motorists to avoid the area.

rejannerating

We just moved back to the UK from about 1/2 mile from exactly where this is. Tropical Storm Fay in 2008 did exactly the same thing and the school district of St Lucie County have learned nothing! We waded through chest high water as an adult with a 6 year old and a nine year old in our backs. We could feel the current almost take us twice. This is so very dangerous. There could be snakes, gators, a current or downed power lines. This kid is now famous for the wrong reason. Do better, Port St Lucie. I’m disgusted but not surprised.
