Tutankhamun's tomb (KV62) in the Valley of the Kings, on Luxor's West Bank, is one of the smallest royal tombs in the valley, despite being the most famous in the world.

Howard Carter discovered it in November 1922, and it remains one of the very few royal tombs found almost intact, with over 5,000 objects inside.

The king died very young, around 18 or 19, so the tomb was not prepared on the scale of other pharaohs' tombs. Scholars believe it was finished in haste, which likely explains its modest size.
