Brief Nepal

A report by Setopati, citing senior police sources, has raised serious questions over the handling of two mobile phones seized from money laundering suspect Inam Sapkota. According to the report, Prime Minister Balen Shah’s chief adviser Kumar Ben allegedly kept the phones at his Jawagal residence for two days before handing them over to police for forensic examination. Investigators reportedly found social media activity, screenshots and deleted messages, including conversations between Ben and Sapkota. The messages allegedly included a recommendation for Anant Raj Ghimire for the RSP ticket from Dang-2. Ben declined to directly respond to the allegations. The claims have raised questions about the security of digital evidence and the integrity of the investigation.
