CURED Conference
November 5–8 | Cincinnati, OH

I’m Adina from @the_adina_act_effort , and this cause is personal to me.

Imagine being in first grade, feeling like you’re choking every time you eat, throwing up after almost every meal, and being told you’re just eating too fast or not chewing enough.

That was my childhood.

After years of symptoms and unanswered questions, doctors unexpectedly discovered I had Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) while testing me for celiac disease.

EoE is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the esophagus and can make swallowing difficult or painful, cause vomiting and reflux, and even make food get stuck.

Living with EoE means countless endoscopies, biopsies, food eliminations, and trying to figure out what triggers inflammation. My mom has EoE too, but our symptoms and food triggers are completely different. No two experiences are exactly alike.

That’s why research matters.

November 5–8, my mom will be attending the CURED Eosinophilic Disease Research Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, bringing together researchers, doctors, patients, and families to advance research, improve treatments, and work toward a cure.

For families like mine, this isn’t just research. It’s personal.

There’s still time to register, and even if you can’t attend, you can support @curedfoundation and the important work they do.

Because no child should have to spend years struggling through every meal before finally getting answers. 💜

👏 I’ve had EoE since I was at least 17 although I was 30 before I got properly diagnosed and now at 45 I just got diagnosed with celiac too 😬 My mom got diagnosed at 70 with EoE and my brother when he was early 40s…and all of our individual doctors told each of us that it’s not genetic. Ha! 😂 Just goes to show how little the medical community understands the disease. Now my nephews are showing signs at 7 yo. I hope that by the time they are adults this world is more supportive of EoE (and celiac!)
