This is such a special day —getting to be able to vote and make your selections collectively matter.

When the family was sponsored by my Aunty, approved for US immigration and moved away from the dictatorship in Portugal 🇵🇹—one of the early things they sought was citizenship to sponsor my Uncles, and of course to become permanent residences.

They voted for the first time in their lives in the US— as Portugal didn’t have elections. We made it a family outing.

Thinking how proud they would be today. They didn’t miss an election. Joyful memories.
