a day agothis would have allowed them to get aides that actually read proposed legislation. . . next time councilmembers make a dumb decision, remember they have full time jobs besides this role and they literally do not have time to do a good job.
2 days agoFYI, If they proposed we tax UPMC, Pitt, CMU, Duquesne? We'd have MILLIONS in tax dollars to save the city and they'd receive nearly unanimous approval 🤷♀️
2 days agoUntil taxpayer money is used to actually help taxpayers, this is obviously going to be the outcome. Throw your own constituents a bone once in a while, instead of approving data centers left and right and raising everyone’s utility bills, and maybe taxpayers would be willing to help you out. You want a free pension and taxpayer funded vacations etc, great, give us a reason to make it feel justified.
2 days agoA measure to give local government more funding after so much local government has misused the finances they have is wild. They are cutting corporate taxes and raising residential taxes. Perhaps they can find a way to create more government funding by, i don't know, taxing large companies, businesses, corporations, etc (looking at you, UPMC)? I know, I know, crazy talk. Let's just raise taxes for the poorest sections of the population more!
2 days agoThere wasn’t enough details on this proposal. I’m all for hiring more staff but I want to know where the spending cap is.
