The situation reportedly worsened after passengers boarded the aircraft, where an air-conditioning malfunction caused discomfort. Technicians spent nearly two hours attempting to repair the issue, further delaying the departure of the Gorakhpur-Mumbai flight.

Following the cancellation, some frustrated passengers reportedly lay down in front of the aircraft in protɇst. One passenger also alleged that the crew cited an 8 pm restriction but failed to provide clear explanations.

As reported by The Times of India SpiceJet said, "On November 01, 2026, SpiceJet flight SG553 scheduled to operate from Mumbai to Gorakhpur was cancelled due to watch hour restrictions at Gorakhpur."
