It’s official! The Democrats have not only flipped the House of Representatives, but have also flipped the Senate, seizing control of Congress from the Republicans.

According to CBS News, there were 35 Senate seats up for election in the midterms on Tuesday (November 3). And with the help of Americans across the nation, Democrats picked up four seats needed to gain control of the Senate. There were three major upsets in Texas, South Carolina and Kansas, plus additional seats in Ohio and North Carolina. Democrats also held onto seats in Georgia and New Hampshire.

According to a map from The Associated Press, Democrats secured at least 51 seats by 11:46 p.m. EST. The Republicans held 39, with the tallies still being counted. Despite the remaining votes to be reviewed, Congress will become BLUE in 2027.
