Elon Musk spent at least $458 million backing Republican candidates and political groups in the 2026 midterms, making him the election cycle's largest individual donor.
But the spending didn't translate into many victories. Of the 106 House and Senate races Musk backed, just 18 had been won as of early Wednesday morning—all in seats Republicans were already expected to win.
