Elections change who holds power. Leadership determines what they do with it. The real test isn’t winning Washington—it’s earning the public’s trust after the victory.

This reporting is shockingly intellectually lazy. “They [Democrats] succeeded in this election largely on the message of being against Trump.” Have you not been following the campaigns of these candidates or paying attention to what’s been happening outside Washington for the past year and a half? Movements were being built around substantive issues, not simply opposition to Trump. Abdul El-Sayed, Michigan: Economic Justice. Medicare for All. Gina Hinojosa, Texas: Public Education. Affordability. Anti-Corruption. James Talarico, Texas: Working People Over Billionaires. Keisha Lance Bottoms, Georgia: Affordability. Education. Healthcare. Reproductive Freedom. Chris Pappas, New Hampshire: Lower Costs. Fight Corporate Interests. Peggy Flanagan, Minnesota: Working Families Over Corporate Power. Deb Haaland, New Mexico: Lower Costs. Safer Communities. David Crowley, Wisconsin: Jobs. Opportunity. Stronger Working Families. Reducing these campaigns to anti-Trump sentiment erases the economic priorities, organizing, and political movements that these candidates have been building. This is not analysis. It's a Washington-centric, establishment Dem narrative that ignores what's happening across the country.

Didn’t Obama lose 63 house seats and the majority state legislatures?

We will be watching if the Democrats follow through. If they lean into accountability and humanity (justice and mercy) they can keep their voters. If they become all words and no action they will lose the respect they have gained.
