@troyesivan takes us behind the scenes at Irving Plaza in New York City. The singer breaks down the making of his new album “She’s the Best” — from writing “really honestly, maybe too honestly” to producing and recording his own vocals at home for the first time.

“I think the reason why I make music is to feel understood. I try and write about stuff that sometimes is a little bit uncomfortable to think about or to sit in.”

Spent the entire afternoon at @12storeez_com and I can’t wait to show you everything I bought 🛍️

I personally don’t know @jesstonn. Well, I know her like many of you do. I’m a fan.

And, as a fan of elite runners, I’ve watched her deal with tremendous disappointment after finishing fourth at the Olympic Trials (twice), where only the top three go to the Games. I’ve watched her go from a seemingly sure victory to disappointment after being led off course at the USA Half Marathon Championships.

My son, @just_truett, has trained with her some in Flagstaff and tells me what an amazing person she is. But again, I’ve never actually spoken with Jess.

That didn’t matter Sunday. I was completely locked in watching her run the NYC Marathon.

From the comforts of my couch, I watched her compete in the lead pack most the race, lose contact just a bit, then fight back in an effort to close the gap.

This is SO hard to do.

I’m nowhere near her talent, but I’ve run this race and many other marathons. I know what it feels like when every stride hurts and every step requires a conscious decision not to let up. You cannot take your foot off the gas at all if the dream is to LIVE.

With just a mile or two left as she was in 3rd place overall I can imagine Jess thinking:

“Third at a World Major is good.

First American woman.

Just hold on.

Please, body.”

On TV there were times when she looked 100 meters or more back, but man, she has HEART. And, as a runner, you MUST stay in contact, which she did.

Just in case.

As the finish approached, the winner, Sheila Chepkirui, crossed and second place began to falter. Maybe Jess saw blood in the water?

But was there enough time?

The wheels were coming off 2nd, but the finish line loomed.

Then Jess stormed past multiple-time Olympic medalist Hellen Obiri to claim SECOND PLACE at the 2026 NYC Marathon!

And no, I don’t know Jess McClain.

But watching her will every fiber of her being to give absolutely EVERYTHING she had, honestly, choked me up. This was one of the most thrilling marathons I’ve ever witnessed.

The human spirit is something special.

What an incredible run. Well done Jess and all the competitors. As they say, that was pure cinema. Thank you. 🙏

The moment❤️

Kenyan law professor Phoebe Okowa has been reelected as a judge of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for a full nine year term, securing Kenya’s representation at the United Nations court until 2036.
Okowa won 183 votes in the UN General Assembly and 13 votes in the 15 member Security Council during elections held in New York on Tuesday, November 3. She secured the position after three rounds of voting, with Sierra Leone withdrawing its candidate to support her.
Okowa first joined the court in November 2025, becoming the first Kenyan judge to serve at the ICJ since its establishment in 1945. She replaced Somali judge Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf, who had resigned.
She is a professor of international law at Queen Mary University of London and previously became the first African woman to serve on the UN International Law Commission.
Her new term will run from February 6, 2027, to February 5, 2036.
