May was full of shenanigans. I’m exhausted 😂

A 10k and two half marathons. A good few nights out. Food. Neyo and Akon concert. Billy ocean concert. My mate Joe Tracinis amazing show. Gym. Just to name a few things.

Some people leave traces. Others shape entire generations. Bijan Blum belonged to the latter.

It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Bijan Blum.

For me, Bijan was one of the DJs who profoundly inspired me in my early years. I used to go to the Dorian Gray to dance and listen to him play. Even back then, he was ahead of his time. With multiple turntables, reel-to-reel tapes filled with his own edits, and an extraordinary sense of sound, dynamics, and musical storytelling, he created journeys unlike anything else.

What always impressed me most was his devotion to the music. Bijan never put himself at the center of attention — the music was always the star. He mastered the mixer, the equalizers, and the art of mixing with a passion and precision that inspired many of us who followed.

But Bijan was much more than an exceptional DJ. He was a joyful spirit, a great dancer, and someone who always brought warmth, energy, and laughter wherever he went. Later, when I became a resident DJ in the main room of Dorian Gray myself, Bijan would often come by to dance, meet friends, and enjoy the night. It was always a pleasure to see him.

With his passing, Frankfurt’s club culture and Germany’s electronic music history lose a true pioneer and visionary. His influence will continue to resonate far beyond his lifetime — in the memories of those who danced with him and in the hearts of countless DJs he inspired.

Thank you for the music, the passion, and the joy, dear Bijan.

I will miss you.
