Straight up Bodybuilding Legs 🦵🔥 One of the differentiating factors of bodybuilding compared to powerlifting or functional training is that … 👉 Bodybuilding trains MUSCLES (not movements) Which means prioritising exercises that place the desired muscle under the most amount of tension possible 💥 This usually involves more machine work and isolation work that what you’d typically expect to see in a general strength program 💁‍♀️ The reason for this is that machines and isolation movements allow you to target specific muscle groups - without being limited by supporting muscle groups 💡 For example… Barbell Squats are a great exercise to build your quads .. but .. they come with the detriment of loading your spine - which both heavily taxes your CNS (making it hard to recover from) and the spine (core muscles) usually become the area that breaks down first (meaning that you can never push your legs to real failure) 🏋️‍♀️ Whereas things like a hack squat and leg press allow you to really focus on the quads without any limiting factors - making them a great choice to really blow up your legs ✅ In saying all this… I still love my functional movements for overall strength (like squats and deadlifts) 🫶 But sometimes it’s good to change things up and train in different ways to give your body a new stimulus - which normally always leads to new results 📈 This is exactly why I’ve got so many different training programs on my app @liftit.app 📲 One subscription gives you access to ALL of them so you’ve got several training styles you can try at any time 🤩 …so be sure to check it out !
