Often referred to as the ULTIMATE bucket list hike…
We can now officially confirm that The Wave is indeed extremely deserving of that title 😍
Only 64 people per day are granted permits to do this hike… making it possibly the most exclusive hike IN THE WORLD 🌎
48 permits are drawn each day in an online lottery for a date 4 months in advance. Only 16 permits are given out for the daily local lottery (2 days prior) where you have to physically be in the area to enter 🎟️
Words cannot describe how beautiful this area is! After spending an entire day out there trying to capture it properly we only hope that our content does this place the justice that it deserves 🫶🏼
Getting the email saying that we had won the lottery… truly felt like… well winning the lottery. It brought us to tears. 2 days later after a little over 3 miles of hiking we reached The Wave and again we were brought to tears 😭
Sure it’s hard to score a permit… we had tried around 50 times in total before we got ours… but we promise… it’s worth never giving up on this one 🥾
Be sure to add this one to the top of your bucket list and send this to someone you think deserves this experience ➡️
Would you climb 340 stairs for one of the best valley views near Buckeye, AZ? 👀 (📍 Victory Steps at Verrado. Trail starts at West Fern Dr.) Tag your hiking buddy 🥵🥾

Expectation VS Reality 😱😱 at Devil’s Bridge 👀
Yes, the views are incredible, BUT this is one of Sedona’s most popular spots, and there’s often a line to walk across the bridge.
Planning tip:
• Starting from the main trailhead: ~4 miles round trip
• With AWD access: closer to ~2 miles round trip
Going early helps, but crowds still happen, patience makes the experience better.
Still worth it just go in with the RIGHT expectations.

everyone pictures Arizona as cactus and desert, but hidden in the Salt River Canyon is Apache Falls, one of the most underrated stops in the state 😍
add this to your AZ bucket list 💯
Apache Falls is about 2.5 hours from Phoenix the drive out there is stunning.
for directions, you can pull it up on AllTrails
Apache Falls is located just outside of Globe on the border of the San Carlos Apache Tribe and White Mountain Apache tribe lands in the Salt River Canyon. you do need a permit to visit so make sure you purchase one beforehand. you can purchase one at the Carrizo Gas Station for $20.the hike out to the falls is easy and less than a half mile. please remember to practice Leave No Trace while visiting 🙏🏻
tag who you want to go with 😍

Add these five trails to your list!
SCORPION TRAIL [ 2.3 miles, 220 feet of elevation ] — This trail is often overlooked by most visitors, but the views of Cathedral Rock from certain parts of this hike are unmatched. It’s an easier one, so make sure you don’t miss it.
HILINE TRAIL [ 8.4 miles, 1232 feet of elevation ] — Most people take this trail about two miles in to a viewpoint and then turn around. There’s incredible views of Bell Rock, Courthouse Rock, and Cathedral Rock along the way.
SECRET SLICK ROCK [ 0.9 miles, 83 feet of elevation ] — This might be one of the easiest hikes in Sedona, and for the amount of payoff that you get with the view at the end — this one is a must.
CIBOLA PASS [ 2.0 miles, 310 feet of elevation ] — Starting at the Jordan Road trailhead, this trail takes you all the way to Devil’s Kitchen where you can connect over to the Seven Sacred Pools.
BIRTHING CAVE [ 1.9 miles, 244 feet of elevation ] — One of Sedona’s most famous caves! And the hike is totally doable for everyone in the family. There is some uphill at the very end, but it’s not much.
Kid-friendly hiking in AZ? Here are 5 toddler-approved trails your little explorers can totally handle! 🌵👣
🌈 1. Waterfall Trail – White Tank Mountains (Surprise, AZ) @whitetankmountainsconservancy
$7 per car or FREE with your @maricopaparks pass!
1.9 miles out & back, paved about halfway. A few stairs near the end but super doable — I’ve done it with kids ages 2–5!
🌄 2. Hole in the Rock – Papago Park (Phoenix, AZ)
FREE!
A tiny 0.3 mile loop. My 2-year-old hiked this all on his own. Just keep littles close once you’re inside the rock.
⛏️ 3. Quartz Mine Loop – Skyline Regional Park (Buckeye, AZ) @skylineregionalpark
FREE!
A short 1.3 mile loop around the mountain. You’ll pass an old mine and enjoy well-maintained trails. Some spots feel steep but toddlers can do it slow & steady (or hand-in-hand!).
🌊 4. Roadrunner Trail – Lake Pleasant (Peoria, AZ) @lakepleasantaz
$7 entry or FREE with a Maricopa Parks Pass.
A fun 1.6 mile out & back near the nature center and themed park. Minimal elevation + tons of picnic spots. Expect a wet toddler… the water is very tempting!
🦋 5. Dragonfly Trail – Spur Cross (Cave Creek, AZ)
FREE!
A beautiful 1.7 mile loop through mesquite groves. Some steeper sections and ledges, so younger hikers may need a hand. We’ve been doing this trail since my middle was 3!
