Sewing my new favourite bag 🎀🪡 Last year I made myself the Bestie Bag from @bfpatterns and of course followed @hisydgraham’s tutorial on quilting and adding bows, and I decided I swiftly needed another one! This #BestieBag by @bfpatterns was one of my last makes in 2023. I’ve been wanting to try the pattern since it came out, but it was hard to get to. I am so glad I finally did! I love everything about this bag. I love the extra finishes for the zipper, the topstitching, extra pattern pieces to make the strap attachment easier. It’s perfection. The instructions are also really good. I am a sucker for good illustrations in the instructions, considering it is my job, and I looooved the illustrations in this pattern. I used a medium Bestie Bag bundle in Old School from @blackbirdfabrics and surprisingly the faux leather was easy to work with! The bundle provides you with everything you will need, but I did skip the sew-in interfacing and used the same weight of fusible interfacing I had on hand. I pressed it onto the faux leather with my iron of the lowest setting and used a pressing cloth. I did test it first to make sure it works! Another thing I changed about my Bestie Bag, is I made a self-strap instead of a webbed strap. Also, next time I would change the pattern piece for the self-strap. When you fold ½” (1.3 cm) to the wrong side on each side of the 1.5” (3.8 cm) strap to finish it, it creates an uneven thickness within the strap and I don’t like it. So I would cut my strap 6” (15 cm) wide instead and fold 1.5” (3.8 cm) to the wrong side. This way the strap is nice, thick and even. I realized that after I cut the strap out, so to fix it, I lined the uneven side within my strap with 1” (2.5 cm) wide webbing to compensate for thinness. It worked a charm! a lil round up of some me made pieces I’ve been wearing recently… ✨🎀✂️🧵🪡 ❤️ Red tie top blouse - I saw a very similar blouse in Dissh that I really liked the shape of, a linen blouse with a lower v collar and ties along the front instead of buttons. I had an old Uniqlo blouse in my cupboard that I never reached for, so I cut it up and based the pattern off it. I didn’t film much of it, but I want to make another one so could document the process for sure! 🩵 trusty blue striped Ganni tie top dupe - I think I wear this at least twice a week. Used a simple cotton from #SpotlightStores for this one! 🤎 Zebra set - I’ve been wearing my #TamaramaSet sooooo much, whipped up in a lovely cotton poplin from #WeAreTheFabricStore 🎀 Bestie Bow Bag - I LOVE THIS BAAAAG! My previous post before this was this lil cutie. Using the #BestieBag pattern from #BFPatterns 🖤 my Sabbi Raving Hearts Pants dupe - my favourite make of the year so far!!! I used the Tamarama Set pattern again and whipped these up in a black linen, and used a cotton tape down the side that I embroidered hearts into. Lots of work, but they are my FAVE!!! I’ll have to make a seperate post about them.
