At the Balvenie x Soto Gallery Design Intersect, Achenyo showcased WOVEN NARRATIVES II, featuring handwoven water hyacinth—symbolizing resilience and renewal—anchored by robust foundations. From these, cascading layers of fish twine drape gracefully, balancing strength and softness.
The rhythmic layering draws inspiration from cultural adornments:
• Maasai and Ndebele beadwork, reflecting social status, storytelling, and ceremonies.
• Indian bridal jewelry, signifying prosperity, continuity, and blessings.
