Just a boy and his dog. 🐶 🐕 The bond between a boy and their dog can be especially strong. It’s almost instinctual. Special moments watching that bond grow in real time. Stopping to appreciate this and doing my part to spread some positivity on IG for a change. Seeing this happen here, in our city, is unreal and our reality. Every single day its something new. Just yesterday, a New York City Council staffer was taken by ICE. To say things are out of control is an understatement. I believe in this city. I believe in our immigrant communities and our diversity. I believe in standing up for each other and showing up when we can especially when our neighbors are being targeted. Looking out for each other isn’t radical. Legendary swimmer, Diana Nyad is a huge inspiration to so many people for her incredible swim from Cuba to Florida. In our conversation on What's the Rusch podcast, she helped reframe what people feel when they're inspired by someone. ⁠ ⁠ They see the heart and soul it took to do the impossible thing, and then a flicker of recognition happens, and they see a bit of themselves in this kind of commitment and passion. ⁠ ⁠ I've always felt a bit humbled and shy when people tell me I inspire them. I usually quickly shrug off the compliment because I don't want it to be about me. Diana helped me realize the compliment isn't about me, it's about the person delivering it and the passion and excitement they feel when witnessing other people doing hard things. ⁠ ⁠ Now that makes me feel generous to tell other people when they inspire me and to take the compliment and gift when folks tell me I inspire them.
