Previously known as #133banmian, the stall has underdone a name change and has freshened up its appearance with a more open-format frontage and brighter lighting. With her name as the brand now, the ladyboss Madam Chua still manages the orders while her son has taken over the cooking. I am pleased to report that the noodles still taste the same. We arrived just after 8.30am on a weekday and like I’d suspected, the #meehoonkueh had already sold out. So I got the “you mian” (thin noodles) prepared in my preferred “dry” style. There are two main reasons I have loved this hawker stall’s #手工面 for way over a decade. First, it is the texture of their handmade noodles which is a perfect combination of springy softness and al dente bite. Second, and this is the clincher, the sauce. A unique and very appetising blend of vinegar and spicy homemade chilli amongst other things, it has a pronounced tang which works with the very light noodles. For the “liao” (ingredient toppings), you can choose to forego the default of minced pork for sliced fresh fish or “yong tau fu” which are my parents’ go-to picks. It is heartening to see @mdmchua133beehoonkueh has retained their most basic $2.50 bowl for long-time regulars in the neighbourhood despite, very understandably, raising prices slightly to $3.50 a bowl. #veronicaphuaeats #mdmchua133beehoonkueh #banmian #hawkerfood #hawkersg #bedok #singapore #foodie #foodlover

Popular Nostalgic Bakery in Bedok that you need to catch their bakes at the right time. They have many customers who sweeps off the buns from the shelves the minute that they are out. Take note that there is no label of the fillings in the bun nor pricing, you can ask the aunties what are the flavours. My curry bun (identify by the 2 peaks on bun) are $2.30 /each.
