what i told myself to get myself to start drawing again is "draw what you want because at the end of the day someone will think its ugly anyway" and it's been up from there! i find it so amazing that people view art differently, that's why we have so many different forms of it. i no longer let people telling me my drawings are ugly upset me bc it's not my problem. that comment alone is why i stopped drawing in the first place and im refusing to let it happen again. ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ #blackartistoninstagram #atlantaartists #blackcomicartists #blackcomics #blackcomicbooks #artmemes

I saw an interesting video where the question was asked, Why were there so many black characters that had the name “black” in front of their superhero name in comics and was it necessary? Lets dive into what I calle the Naming Olympics Trope. ~ On one hand, it’s important to remember that the YT supremacist made a bunch of black comic characters in the 60s and 70s for pacification. They wanted to curb the uprising of race riots and give them representation. It’s a condescending way of shutting blacks up so they wont complain anymore without truly addressing the real issue of reparations and tangible laws. Anyway, it 100% lacked true originality. Look at characters such as Black Lightning,Black Vulcan,Black Goliath,Black Racer,Black Manta and others. They are obviously black but have black in their hero name. If you dont believe me, think about how condescending it would sound to hear White Spider, White Iron Man, White Thor, White Wolverine and more. ~ Black Panther is understandable although because panthers are black and there was the Black Panther party, but then hispanics re-made about race later when “asking for a Latino pather” of the backs of its success. Black Canary and Adam were originally white or non-black characters that were race swapped. This is a lack originality in a nut shell, but again it was never intended to be “original” Anyway, let me know what y’all think below 👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿 #blackmen #blackcharacaters #blackcomics #blackcomiccharacters #blackwomen #blacknerd #blacknerds #blacklightning #blackmanta #blerd #blerds #coolcolas #colascreative #creativecolas #blackwriters #blackwriter #blackcreatives #blackcreative
