Old accounts, breached emails, exposed metadata, browser fingerprints, data brokers, activity history. An attacker using OSINT can connect these small pieces surprisingly quickly. So, hacker to hacker, if you want to make yourself harder to find, track, and profile, here are 7 places I’d start: 1. Have I Been Pwned Check whether your email has appeared in known breaches and find out what information may already be exposed. 2. JustDeleteMe Find those forgotten accounts and remove them. An unused account is still part of your attack surface. 3. Email aliases Stop using your primary email everywhere. Use aliases to separate accounts and limit exposure. 4. Google My Activity Review what activity is being stored about you and clean up what you don’t need. 5. YourDigitalRights.org Use it to identify data brokers and submit removal requests for your personal information. 6. ExifTool Check and remove metadata from images and files before sharing them. Sometimes the file reveals more than the image itself. 7. EFF Cover Your Tracks See how identifiable your browser is and understand what your configuration reveals about you. The mindset is simple: Think like an attacker. Find what they can find about you first. Then start removing it. You don’t need to disappear from the internet. You just need to leave less behind.
