the “perfect” travel family ✈️
dad plans it. mom films it. baby steals the show. 😂
somehow, every adventure turns out to be our favorite one yet. 🤍
Now that we’re traveling with teens, there are a few things I wish I’d spent a whole lot LESS energy worrying about when they were younger.
Here are my 10:
1. How much elementary school they’d miss.
2. Spending money on trips they might not remember.
3. Whether they’d survive the long flight.
4. Whether we’d see and do everything.
5. Whether they’d behave perfectly.
6. Whether we’d stick to their normal routines.
7. Packing for every possible “what if.”
8. Whether they’d eat anything besides chicken nuggets.
9. Getting the perfect family photo.
10. Whether the destination was “kid-friendly” enough.
And here’s what I’d focus MORE on if I could do it all over again:
❤️ Finding the playground in every city.
❤️ Letting them have a say in our adventures.
❤️ Letting them carry their own backpack and order their own food.
❤️ Booking the hotel with the pool, even when it cost more.
❤️ Leaving room for slow mornings with no agenda.
❤️ Starting little travel traditions, like collecting a postcard from every trip and having them write their favorite memory on the back.
❤️ Getting in the photos, even when I didn’t love how I looked.
Because here’s what I’ve learned now that our kids are getting older:
The goal was never to give them perfect vacations. It was to raise kids who still WANT to travel with us when they’re old enough to have a choice.
Save this for your next trip, and send it to a parent who’s stressing about traveling with little kids.

There are a LOT of places on my travel bucket list, so saying I’d spend precious PTO going somewhere again is a pretty big endorsement. 😂
But Thailand, Costa Rica, Italy + Portugal? No hesitation.
These are four of my favorite family travel destinations we’ve experienced with our kids — incredible food, beautiful places, unforgettable experiences, and trips I still think about long after we got home.
And while international family travel can get expensive FAST, learning how to use credit card points + miles has made trips like these so much more realistic for our very normal family budget.
If you’re dreaming about traveling more with your family, taking your kids to Europe, planning a Thailand family vacation, exploring Costa Rica, or just trying to figure out how people afford international travel with kids… this is exactly why I talk about points + miles so much.
Comment HOW and I’ll send you how we do it. ✈️
And truly, that’s all I have to say ❤️

Your reminder that YOU are their parent, and you get to decide what experiences matter for your family. 🤍
I get asked by my US audience why this reminder is even needed. And it’s because here in England, taking your kids out of school during term time is a BIG deal, and parents can be (and often are) fined!
I’ve also had messages saying that sharing this perspective is irresponsible.
So let me be clear: I fully support teachers (thank you!!) and value education. We’re so grateful for our kids’ schools - they're the best part of living in England , and I could never replace what they do!
But if schools recognise the value of learning outside the classroom through field trips, adventure camps, and other experiences, shouldn’t parents be able to create those opportunities too?
Experiencing different cultures, seeing new ways of life, trying things that challenge them, and spending uninterrupted quality time together. There’s SO much learning that happens outside a classroom.
We travel during school holidays AND occasionally take advantage of missing a few days to find cheaper flights and hotels that make these adventures possible.
Education matters. And so do family travel experiences. 🤍
(Also, anyone who thinks taking your kids travelling is the easy option has clearly never done it 😂)

Turn up the worship music and pretend it’s not even happening 😂😂
It’s definitely trickier with a very active toddler lol. What are your tips for long road trips? Lots of snacks always works for our kiddos!
Sending ☕️ to the first person that guesses which state we are heading to? Are you taking any roadtrips this summer? 🚌

“Travel now, because once you have kids, that’s over.”
Then it was, “You can’t travel like that with three kids.”
Then, “You can’t just move your whole family to the other side of the world.”
Meanwhile us: three kids, a whole lot of countries later… and somehow moving to Bali with basically one suitcase each. 😂🌴
Turns out people will always have opinions about what you should do with your life.
Have kids. Settle down. Be realistic. Play it safe.
But the funny thing is… they don’t have to live with the life you didn’t choose. You do.
So travel with the kids. Move somewhere crazy. Start over. Change your mind. Do the thing that makes absolutely no sense to everyone else but somehow makes perfect sense to you.
Worst case? You get a good story. 😂
Thank God we were never very good at listening. 🤍
A little more luggage, a little less sleep, and a whole lot of memories ❤️
Family travel might look different with little ones, but I wouldn’t trade these experiences for anything.
