Just because you can afford something doesn’t mean it deserves your money. These are the 7 things I stopped buying and my savings grew without my lifestyle changing at all: • I don’t buy a new phone every year — I still use my iPhone 13. I only upgrade if the battery is bad or it breaks. Same applies to beauty and tech devices. • Branded things to“keep up” — If anyone cares about the brands you are wearing, they are not the friends you want to keep. • Daily café coffees — a game changer. 35–45 AED for a habit, not a treat costs a lot of money yearly. • Taxis for walkable distances — 18 AED here, 22 AED there… I only take taxis from June-August or if I have important meetings where I can’t look sweaty 🥵 • New outfits for every plan — repeating outfits is the so normal! I promise, no one will even notice. • Aesthetic cafés with average food — paying for the vibe, not the quality. • Subscription apps I forget about — 20–40 AED leaks every month. Every couple of months I check if I can remove one that I don’t use anymore. Most importantly, you need to track your spendings for a few weeks to become aware of what you really spend money on.
