Tussen juni en november trekken Southern Right whales (zuidkapers) naar de kust van Hermanus en Gansbaai. Soms zie je ze zelfs vanaf de kant. Toch is een boottocht voor ons dé ultieme ervaring. Oog in oog staan met een walvis die naast de boot opduikt, vergeet je nooit meer. 💙

Welcome to Shark Cage Diving in Gansbaai, South Africa! 👀
You'll head out into the waters off South Africa's coast, come face-to-face with some of the ocean's most iconic predators, and experience one of the most thrilling adventures on the planet. 😳
🦈 What the experience is actually like:
After a safety briefing, you'll board the boat and head out into the waters. When it's your turn, you'll enter a submerged cage attached to the boat and come eye-to-eye with sharks just feet away. No scuba certification is required, making this a bucket list adventure almost anyone can do.
💵 Price:
Around $200 USD per person (approximately ZAR 3,655 for international visitors), plus a small conservation fee.
⏱️ Duration:
Approximately 4 to 6 hours, depending on ocean conditions, wildlife activity, and transfers.

🚨 Important things to know before you decide if this is for you:
1. You do NOT need scuba certification or previous diving experience.
2. Take seasickness medication beforehand if you're prone to motion sickness. The ocean can get rough.
3. Bring warm layers. Even on sunny days, it can get cold and windy out on the water.
4. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, which makes every trip unique.
5. Bring a GoPro if you have one
6. Sharks are far less dangerous than most people think, and encounters with humans are extremely rare. They're vital to healthy ocean ecosystems and deserve more respect than fear.
7. Fun fact: scientists now generally refer to them simply as "white sharks" rather than "great white sharks."

So, I finally got to visit the Klipgat Caves out in Gansbaai. Simple little stroll from the carpark down to the beach and across to the cave. Very cool. Gorgeous day. Wasn't planning on making a video so not my usual thing but still wanted to show you some of what we did.

B.C- (before corona) One of the most scariest yet amazing experiences! Shark cage diving! They are in their habitat & not harmed in any way. This happens near Cape Town, South Africa & is a one of a kind experience!
P.S- It was quite scary seeing them up close & so personal. Yet, they are such magnificent creatures.

Hermanus en Afrique du Sud est connu mondialement pour l'observation des baleines depuis la terre ferme.
Mais à Gansbaai pas loin de là on a même trouvé une maison d'où tu peux les voir depuis la terrasse.
Il s'agit de @whaletale39.
La maison est hyper confortable, le propriétaire est plein d'attention et a même pensé à la bouteille de vin pour un apéro cétacés qu'on n'est pas prêt d'oublier. Le quartier est super tranquille, on peut se balader sur le littoral, aux sons des souffles de baleines et croiser aussi des damans.
Pour votre prochain voyage en Afrique du Sud, n'hésiter pas à loger ici lors de votre étape dans les environs d' Hermanus.
