Goryokaku tower is undeniably popular especially during cherry blossom period and waiting lines just to purchase tickets and go up the observatory deck can take over an hour. Don’t repeat my mistake! Here is how you can avoid half the waiting time. 🌸 Purchase entry tickets in advance from the convenience store By doing so, you save 30~40mins from lining up to purchase tickets. It’s only available at 7eleven printer and there’s one near the tower. How to use the 7 eleven printer machine 1. Select “ticket/チケット)on the screen 2. Select “JTB レジャー” 3. Select “商品番号入力での这接賻入” 4. Enter in this number: 0266196 and press OK 5. Select number of tickets (adults/child) & press OK 6. A receipt will be printed, bring this to the cashier to make payment (cash only) 7. 🌸 Goryokaku Park Part 1 🌸 For the best view of Hakodate’s famous star-shaped park, head up the observation deck of Goryokaku Tower. From 90 meters above the city, you get a perfect bird’s-eye view of Goryokaku Park, where about 1,500 sakura trees trace the outline of this historic star-shaped fort, turning it into a glowing pink blossom star each spring. 🌸⭐️ Originally built in 1866 as Japan’s first Western-style star fort, this place was once designed for defense. April 23 in Hakodate (Hokkaido, Japan)🇯🇵🗾 So lucky to have a sunny day and full bloom of Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms in Goryokaku. The line to get to the tower to see the star shaped fort is long. Hakodate, Hokkaido is not yet that popular but go before JR finishes their Shinkansen expansion. Happy traveling!😊🚄✈️

🌸 Hokkaido, Japan 🇯🇵 My last sakura trip of the year, and what a way to end it! I made it up to Hakodate in Hokkaido and honestly, this is one of the prettiest sakura spots I’ve ever seen in Japan. The blooms are already a little past peak, but it somehow makes it even more beautiful, with petals gently falling everywhere like pink snow.
