“I can hear you… but I can’t understand you.” 👂 What might hearing loss sound like? Listen to Grandpa and Hadley’s conversation across four samples: normal hearing, then simulated mild, moderate and severe hearing loss. Same words. Different clarity. 🔊 Start at a comfortable volume and keep it unchanged throughout. Follow the captions and notice how the speech sounds more muffled in the simulations. This is an illustration—not a hearing test or an exact recreation of anyone’s hearing. Everyone’s experience is different, and your device and listening environment also affect what you hear. Share this with someone you’d like to help understand the difference. Follow @wangtohear for more hearing education. DAY 2. I got my hearing tested on camera. First thing they said when I walked in: “wow, you’re way too young to be here.” Tell that to my ears. Watch the difference: HEARING AIDS OFF vs ON. My real audiogram at the end — mild to moderately-severe loss, both ears. This is why I play by feel. Everyone has earbuds. But how much damage are you doing? 🎧 Think of your hearing like a cup. Every loud blast fills it. Once it spills over, that’s permanent hearing loss. 🔴 WHO: Keep it under 85 dB, max 1 hour 🔴 Earbuds max out at 100-110 dB 🔴 Follow the 60/60 rule: 60% volume, 60 minutes For parents: Kids are using earbuds more than ever. Teach them now — their hearing has to last a lifetime. Red flags: Sudden hearing loss, persistent pain, drainage, tinnitus → See an ENT immediately. Now you NOSE.
