Have you ever found yourself out of a much needed herb at just the wrong time? Thats what happened to me the last time I made red beans and rice.
The best way to ensure you never run out of fresh or dried herbs is to grow them yourself. And, the best place to buy those herbs is at the @herb.society.Pioneer.unit Annual Herb and Plant Sale this March 13-14 at @festivalhill.institute in Round Top Texas.
Jules Johnson, horticulturist for @roundtopfestivalhillgardens has worked with the Pioneer Unit volunteers to hopefully order enough of the herbs we all love for this amazing sale.
Word of warning, this is a VERY POPULAR PLANT SALE. To ensure you get the herbs and ornamentals you want, come early so you will be able to find everything you need to

I call herbs “Overeducated Weeds!”
Herbs are easier to grow than just about anything else in your garden! Herbs give back far more than they take both from the soil, and the time needed to care for them.
Join Greg for a hands-on herb gardening class covering how to grow, harvest, and use herbs for flavor and health.
With decades managing major garden centers, training staff, writing, and teaching, Greg shares practical skills for everyday gardeners. Saturday, April 5, 1PM at Black Horse Farms, Athens, NY.

This is one of the best moments of the year to plant herbs in Central Texas.
The days are warming, the soil is waking up, and herbs like rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus), thyme (Thymus vulgaris), and oregano (Origanum vulgare) begin to settle in beautifully this time of year.
Planted now, they have time to root deeply before the heat of summer arrives — rewarding you with fragrance, flavor, and a garden that gives back every time you step outside.
Our tables are full of herbs ready for kitchen gardens, containers, and sunny beds.
Come wander the nursery and gather a few for the season ahead.

The herb garden has officially reopened for business. Oregano, two types of parsley, marjoram, thyme, mint, and sage all made it through the winter. Basil, chives, two rosemary, and a bay leaf tree have been added—on track to end up in the kitchen before long. If you pass by, feel free to take a few cuttings.

Those of you that voted for herbs at the stand get ready!
I started a ton of basil, thyme, sage, dill, and cilantro. Hope is to have some seedling packs available at the stand around the last average frost date (early May) so you can grab some herbs to put in your gardens or herb planters.
Are there any other herbs you would be interested in having available?
Flowers and veggies to come…stay tuned!
