While I’m a huge fan of safety and I don’t always recommend this , Tye did a bad ass job inspecting this home for my client! purchasing a home is one of the biggest investments you’ll ever make . Make sure you hire the best inspector you can get. Not someone that will cut corners. never forgo a home inspection unless you’re willing to deal with the consequences. you never know what might be hiding in that house ! #badass #homeinspections #newhomepurchase #roofinspection

This week has been very unlucky for me… 😔☘️ A tree fell on my house and trapped me in. It’s been a stressful week of dealing with home insurance, tree removal companies, home inspectors, etc. But I am lucky that it just barely missed the power lines so I still have power. I am lucky that it only damaged the part of the roof that covers my car, so my main house roof and car are safe. I am lucky that I had a great company that removed the tree so I can safely leave my house again. I have been decluttering my house and was having a tough time letting go of my Japanese fashion pieces that I’ve treasured for years. But the night the tree hit my house, I realized, if my house were to go on fire or get flooded, none of these material things would matter… What matters is your life, family and loved ones, sharing happy life experiences. I want to share this to encourage you to do what makes you happy and live your best life. Your life matters more than the things. Happy Spring 💐

In many cases, we shouldn’t, such as with any pre-existing home that likely no longer complies with the most current codes. In general, home inspectors are typically advised to be careful about discussing code. Some even advise we don’t talk about it all, and that’s because of two areas where an inspector may end up on thin ice: 1. Appearing to enforce code by using verbiage such as “This is a violation”. We are not city inspectors or code enforcers. 2. Being wrong about the code The truth is, we CAN utilize code to back our findings from the inspections if necessary, such as with new construction inspections. There’s simply a correct way to do it, and that correct method requires your inspector to know the LOCAL CODES. Just because a code or codebook exists, that does not mean your local authorities enforce it.
