Today marks two years since the October 7 terror attack on Israel, which irrevocably changed Jewish history and identity, not only in Israel but in America and around the world. We remember the lives lost and the communities shattered. We honor the strength and resilience of loved ones left behind and of communities as they work to pick up the pieces. We stand strong and proudly Jewish with our extended Jewish community across the globe. In June, we were honored to welcome survivors Ziv Abud and Eliya Cohen. On October 7th, the couple fled the Nova Music Festival and ran to a roadside bomb shelter, now referred to as the “bunker of death” after terrorists attacked it by hurling grenades inside. They were soon separated–Ziv was buried under the bodies of other victims, and Eliya was taken hostage and held captive by Hamas for 505 days. They were reunited in February 2025. We are honored they shared their stories with us in person. Their voices help us all to bear witness and ensure we keep alive the names of the 48 souls, living and deceased, still in Hamas captivity after 731 days. Release the hostages now. Israel Bonds Women’s Division in Mexico lovingly crafted beautiful bracelets for Israeli women as a gesture of solidarity and support. Ahead of Chanukah, Laura Orzy, Israel Bonds Women’s Division International Chair, had the honour of delivering these heartfelt gifts during a visit to Mechinat Alma in Jerusalem, a programme that empowers young women from challenging backgrounds with guidance and education as they prepare to serve in the IDF. The young women’s joy and gratitude were palpable as they tried on the bracelets and listened to the personal messages of love and solidarity from across the globe. This special visit to Alma was part of the Lion of Judah Israel mission and partnership. During this visit Laura was joined by Varda Ben Barch, a longtime member of the Lion of Judah Israel, and grandmother of Edan Alexander, an IDF soldier who is currently held hostage in Gaza.
