Gool Perran Lowen.🤍🖤 Today we’re celebrating Cornwall’s patron saint, St Piran – and one of Cornwall’s finest exports… the mighty pasty 🥟 St Piran’s Day marks the legend of the Irish saint who discovered tin in Cornwall when the black ore in his fire revealed a white cross of tin – the symbol that became the iconic Cornish flag we proudly fly today. To mark the occasion, #TeamNQY made sure the @flyloganair crew took a proper taste of Cornwall with them on their Manchester turnaround – because no St Piran’s Day is complete without a pasty. ✈️ In fact, the Loganair crews often order their pasties ahead of arrival to make sure they’re ready and waiting. It means crews get a proper taste of traditional Cornish goods before heading back to Manchester, Aberdeen, Glasgow or Newcastle. Our friends at @cornishpremierpasties helped us deliver the goods (as always 👏), sending a little slice of Kernow north. Most Welsh and Cornish speakers would agree that the word Hiraeth/Hireth is overused. I think I may have even seen coffee called Hiraeth on my travels, which boggles the mind! For anyone who isn't familiar with the word, it means a longing for a place which is out of reach, and in so many ways it epitomises my feelings for Kernow. It's the name of the last track on 'Utopia', a song where I'm trying to understand my relationship to a land and a people who I hold so dear to my heart, and a place I've never had the opportunity to live in. It's a love letter of sorts, and an exploration of my emotional understanding of what Kernow means to me.
