Do the hard thing fight the paralysis face your fears! Big shout out to Captain Benny, who was given me the confidence to take our little boat out and do a five point turn down the fairway! #lambchop #momsofinstagram #lambchopsplayalong #thesongthatdoesntend #sharilewisandlambchop

This is a very rare 1958 screen test for NBC. I always thought Shari was the best ventriloquist ever. She could talk, sing, give her characters distinct personalities, and seamlessly switch between herself and them, without ever moving her lips even a little. The soft, loving tone she always used when talking to them was another joy unto itself. I’ve never been able to figure out how ventriloquists say words with the letters M, B, or P without their lips touching. (Try saying “Meet me by the park in Baltimore, Penelope” while smiling widely.) Shari’s puppet characters included the most famous and beloved puppet of all time, the feisty “Lamb Chop”. Her main cast also included the slow-witted “Charlie Horse”, the shy, Southern-accented “Hush Puppy”, and “Wing Ding”, a less common character used in earlier shows. These iconic characters appeared on The Shari Lewis Show and Lamb Chop’s Play-Along. They were integral to her television career from the 1950s through the 1990s. Her daughter, Mallory Lewis, continued to perform with Lamb Chop after 1998. Mallory is amazing too. 😊 #sharilewis #lambchop #ventriloquist #puppet #funny All sounds and images are owned by the respective copyright holders. Long before modern children’s programming filled TV screens, Shari Lewis was capturing the hearts of families across America with her unforgettable puppet Lamb Chop. Beginning in the 1950s, Lewis blended ventriloquism, music, and storytelling into lively television shows that felt both educational and playful at the same time. What made Lewis truly special was her ability to give Lamb Chop a real personality. The puppet’s curious questions, mischievous humor, and witty back-and-forth with Lewis made audiences feel like they were watching two real characters on screen rather than a performer and a puppet. Kids didn’t just watch—they sang along, laughed, and joined the adventure. Decades later, Lewis revived the character with Lamb Chop’s Play‑Along, introducing a whole new generation to Lamb Chop’s world of songs, imagination, and learning. Even after Lewis passed away in 1998, the character remained a nostalgic symbol of classic children’s television and the simple joy of creative storytelling. Few entertainers shaped children’s TV the way Shari Lewis did. Through warmth, intelligence, and humor, she turned a simple puppet into one of the most beloved characters in television history. 🐑✨ #sharilewis #lambchop #throwbacktv #childrens television #nostalgia

Lamb Chop knows my name! It's not every day you get a shout out from your childhood hero Lamb Chop and the incomparable Mallory Lewis (@mallorylewisandlambchop). And to answer Lamb Chop's question, I'd endorse a dueling version of the doc titled "Lamb Chop and Shari," but I'm biased. Thanks so much to Mallory and @Kinolorber for making my 6-year-old dreams come true. Go see "Shari and Lamb Chop!" #lambchop #sharilewis #love

This one made me really emotional because Lamb Chop and Shari Lewis were such an important part of my childhood! #cosplay #lambchop #sharilewis #limbdifferenceawareness Video description: Alexis is sitting at the kitchen table, wearing a multicolour tie-dye shirt. Her hair is light brown and layered. She is using bits of wool fabric and paint to transform her stump into the character Lamb Chop.
