小吸物椀です。
これも挽物轆轤の授業の終わりの方で挽きました。
全部で５個作りました。
本当はオプションで、塗りまで仕上げなくても良かったのですが、抹茶椀を塗る時に一緒の色で塗りました。
結局３つ提出して、手元には浅葱色と藤色の2つが残りました。
材料は、抹茶椀はトチで、こちらはケヤキです。
抹茶椀は過去の投稿にありますので比較するとわかりますが、ケヤキの方が色がくすむような気がします。
色漆は厚く残ると色がくすむので、ケヤキの方が残り易いのかなぁと思いました。
たまたまかもしれないので、また別のケヤキでも試してみようと思います。
These are small soup bowls.
I made them toward the end of my woodturning class.
I made five in total.
Since this was an optional project, I finished making them and that was it.
However, I happened to be lacquering a matcha bowl at the time, so I finished these in the same color.
In the end, I submitted three, leaving me with two—one blue and one wisteria-colored.
The material for the matcha bowls was horse chestnut, while these are made of zelkova.
Since the matcha bowls are featured in a previous post, please take a look and compare them.
Don’t you think the color of these zelkova bowls looks darker?
I wondered if it might be because dark-colored lacquer tends to darken when applied thickly, so it might adhere better to zelkova.
It could just be a coincidence, so I plan to try it again with another piece of zelkova.
