Our goal is to keep families together and rabbits out of shelters, whenever possible. Overprotection and statements like “rabbits should never fly” have influenced some of the policies we see today-policies that can leave families with no realistic options. We firmly believe that rabbits can fly safely with proper preparation and species-appropriate policies and protocols in place. Unfortunately, in 2026, this can feel paralyzing, because of the misalignment between airline and transportation policies and what experts and rabbit-savvy veterinarians recommend: · Choose in-cabin travel whenever possible · Minimize travel time and layovers · Provide appropriate access to water · Maintain proper nutrition with hay or appropriate hay substitutes · Prepare thoroughly-and be there for the rabbit who is bonded to you To sum this up: The answer cannot be to eliminate travel as an option altogether. Guardians deserve the ability to make informed decisions based on their rabbit's individual needs, the circumstances of the journey, and appropriate veterinary guidance. Blues new outdoor hangout 🏡 @rabbithutchesuk Blue hasn’t been able to go outside for awhile now due to his dermatitis.
