🚨HUGE REVEAL #3🚨 We had several gigantic projects to unveil before gates open TOMORROW for our Season Opener. This is the Big One.. For 76 years, the mighty Simplex E-7 Projectors have lit up the night and filled our screen at The Mahoning Drive-In Theater, from black and white to color, Academy Ratio to Cinemascope, APRIL SHOWERS to ALIEN, filling the eyes and minds of generations who have passed through our gates with the magic of the movies. Over the last few months, with the help of Mattew Hidy of Film Path Cinema Systems, LLC, we’ve undertaken the first major upgrade to our projectors in decades, replacing the 1940s-era Simplex E-7 projector heads with “newer” 90s-era Simplex XL Water Cooled heads, and with them a fresh set of lenses, to give our customers a bolder, brighter image on our giant Cinemascope Screen for the next 77 years! This will also allow for us to upgrade our bulbs significantly. Stay tuned for that announcement in the very near future;) Endless thanks to Matthew and our Projection team (Rob & Krista) for their tireless efforts to bring you a better presentation than audiences have seen on our screen in decades, or ever! Matt at Film Path is such a treat to work with and took such love and care to make sure this system is just right!! We are honored to have him as a shining member of our growing Mahoning Family! Support his efforts at Film-Path.com Stay tuned for even more Reveals throughout the season;) It’s All Happening!!! #MahoningDrivein #MahoningDriveinTheater #MahoningProjectionUpgrade

🚨HUGE REVEAL #2🚨 We have several gigantic projects to unveil before gates open This Friday for our Season Opener. This is the second reveal.. At the end of last season we began to discuss the possibilities for a personal Mural work on our exit side of the concession lobby. Lead by an incredibly talented team of local artists who began to brainstorm this fresh take on our unique venue. We knew we wanted to pay ode to Jeff, highlight 35mm and our projection system.. This team took the planning and execution to a whole other planet!! You can tell how much love and dedication Gene Barretta, Ben Barretta, Joe Griffin, Louisa Guilbert, Andrew Kern, Nick Sander, Moira Sander & Gary Giordano put into this. Endless hours of organizing, with long trips to the lot for weeks. And we only lost one artist to a vicious farm animal stampede;) Needless to say, the result is so breathtaking!❤️ Are you wondering why the film strip has so many empty frames? It’s a special treat and ongoing project! As the season unfolds, you can look forward to seeing more of your favorite films added to the mural! Thank you to our massively talented team and masterful display of comrade and artistry to make this a reality!! @joeillustrated @genebarretta_art @kern.creative.design @garygiordanoartist @benstorm03 Stay tuned for more Big Reveals leading up to Showtime.. It’s All Happening!!! #MahoningDrivein #MahoningDriveinTheater #MahoningMural
