These are the different roles in different types of industries.
Some of these roles never existed few years back,
It's a domain still evolving. Very few HCPs are there who made shift in other sectors so there is not much guidance but the way to find and apply to all these is as simple as any other job .
Yes getting the job is not simple. Sometimes there is just consistent applying that gets the job done sometimes it's the additional certifications sometimes references and often times it's just luck being at the right place right time when opportunity arises.
We are doing webinar on 8th March comment if you are interested and link will be shared

I'm super surprised at all the comments and questions there are online from aspiring pharmacy students and pharmacists who want to go into pharmacy but don't know too much about what they can do in the field, so let me break it down!
1. Clinical Pharmacy (Hospital / Acute Care): requires a PharmD, highly recommended to complete a PGY1 + PGY2 in specialty (cardiology, ID, ICU, onc, etc.). Highly recommend BCPS certification for any specialty/clinical areas. These pharmacists can work anywhere in hospitals, academic centers, specialty clinics, and more.
2. Community/Retail Pharmacy: requires a PharmD, but residency is optional. There are community-based residency programs though! These pharmacists may work in chain retail pharmacies and independent pharmacies.
3. Industry Pharmacy (Pharma / Biotech): requires a PharmD but a 1-2 year fellowship is optional (still highly recommended). Fellowships can be in Medical Affairs, Regulatory, HEOR, and Safety. These pharmacists most often work in pharmaceutical companies, med affairs teams, and in clinical development.
4. Veterinary Pharmacy (HOT TOPIC): requires a PharmD and optional residency. There are PGY2 Veterinary Pharmacy programs, but I haven't met many people in this specific space. These pharmacists may work in teaching hospitals, compounding pharmacies, and even zoos!
5. Dermatology Pharmacy (clinical or industry): required PharmD and recommended PGY1 + PGY2 for ambulatory care/dermatology-focused training. I've most often heard of pharmacists transitioning into the derm field through fellowship and medical affair roles. These pharmacists may practice at derm clinics, cosmetic companies, skincare companies, and pharmaceutical companies.

This isn't a comprehensive list but I hope it gives you a better idea of how much you can actually do as a pharmacist/how diverse this field is!

the episode you have been waiting for: non lab based biochemistry jobs! i actually wished somebody would be able to break this down when i was panicking post grad lol.
it’s impossible for me to summarize every thing in a 90 sec ig reel, so i did the best i can to provide most info in this short amount of time.
consulting is what we consider external/agency side, means you are serving a client (in this context, pharmaceutical companies). you might have heard that consulting is quite a high paying job - it is with it’s trade offs and rather stressful hours. however you are able to be exposed to various industry problems across companies, hence it is ‘fast learning’.
pharmaceutical companies also provide an array of jobs - sales and marketing, medical affairs, corporate affairs, market access etc. this is actually my personal fav! you may also explore fmcg, beauty and wellness companies as well.
let me know if you want a more thorough breakdown on how you typically start in each industry - we will talk about non science jobs in the next episode ❤️

Bedside nursing is honorable—but it’s not the only path.
Nurses are quietly thriving in:
• Pharmacovigilance – drug safety & signal detection
• Medical Affairs – scientific strategy & education
• Clinical Development – protocols, trials & innovation
These roles require clinical thinking, not burnout.
I created my ebook to demystify these paths and show nurses how to compete in corporate spaces confidently.
