Five years ago today, Steve Gleason was honored with the Congressional Gold Medal! It wasn’t just about the medal (though, let’s be honest, it’s pretty cool); it was a celebration of Steve’s unstoppable spirit and his game-changing work for the ALS community. From blocking punts to breaking barriers, Steve keeps proving that awesome is his default setting. Here’s to Steve – a true legend who shows us all what it means to live with purpose. Here’s a quick recap of our latest YOLO tour stop in L.A. Thank you again to @alsuprc and @barryalsup for bringing us out, was truly an incredible trip. We started out checking into the @thesunrosewesthollywood and the room and location were great. We had a great ADA suite that was easy to navigate with my walker. It was right on the sunset strip, across the street from the Comedy Store so when we saw @paulyshore bobbyleelive @harlandwilliams were doing sets we moved dinner up and headed over there. The surprise guest for the night was @wilfredburr which was cool to say I got to see him in that venue. The next day was Texans day, they were playing the Chargers at Sofi, our first time back since TCU got absolutely embarrassed by Georgia. We went to the Ivy for brunch and I got to ride in a handicap van for the first time, it wasn’t bad but made me realize I want to sit shotgun in the van we are currently working on. The seats were great and the Texans won, but we were exhausted after the game so just door dashed some Mexican food to the room and crashed. The next day we went for a “hike” which in hindsight was super dumb but made for a good story. The battery on my @teamgleason wheelchair ran out close to the top so I had to enlist my buddies and the plant powered “Vegan Steven” to get me to the top. They got me up there and we took some pictures before me and Julia split off & grabbed lunch & went to the Meta store to get me some display glasses. I wanted these because my arms are getting weaker and it’s getting harder to get my phone out of my pocket. These will allow me to take video, read my texts and ask Meta AI questions & have the response displayed in the glasses themselves. My hope is someone develops a program to allow the glasses to utilize eye gaze technology in the future when my voice gets affected. We headed back to the hotel to relax a bit then went to dinner @catch. This was probably my favorite meal of the trip but the food was good everywhere we went. After Catch we crashed and got up the next morning to get back on the plane. Incredible trip. #als #stellarstrong #yolotour #fuckals #alsicebucketchallenge #nowhiteflags
