So glad I made it to @usbgsocal Travelers talk about #poitin @theobscuredistillery this week. I learned more about what is essentially Ireland’s forerunner to whiskey. It’s often called Irish moonshine. Poitin is an unaged spirit and we tried one of the only legal ones available in SoCal from @glendaloughdistillery as well as cocktails from the ever creative @greatbooisup 🥃 Bonus we also tried a couple other things and I can’t wait to see where in the world of spirits we’re traveling next! Thank you @cocktailsandotherlies @serena_is_serena @erinmakescocktails 🥃 #usbg #usbgsocal
Get a big pot, need a bigger condenser, make one too big, get a bigger pot, repeat. #poitin #moonshine #copper #ireland
Ye lads can imagine how excited I am for this #homebrew #poitin #moonshine #ireland #videogame
Almost to the end of the Dark Cloud Whisky Best of 2023 Awards and a few of the big Awards left.
Today we Crown the Distillery of the year!!!
This was by far one of the easiest choices of the entire Awards.
@killowendistillery is one of the smallest distilleries in all of Irish Whiskey but they are having one of the largest impacts!!
From aging, finishing and bottling spirits distilled elsewhere with their own spin on them to now making TRUE traditional Pot Still whiskey and also bringing Poitin to the masses, there isn't much @brendan.carty.12 and the team haven't done and done damn well.
The video explains it all and I am honoured to call them friends and privileged I get to drink the bottles Killowen releases!
My 2023 Distillery Of The Year.... Killowen!
