Studies show kids entering school in 2023 have fewer essential skills like sharing and patience. Leaders face a choice: teach these skills or lament their absence. We can’t keep talking about student behavior without talking about the adult experience. We ask teachers to be calm, consistent, patient, flexible and regulated for kids all day long. But as school leaders, we also have to look at the conditions were creating for those adults. Because when we over meeting, over email, over spreadsheet, overcomplicate, we are draining the exact capacity we need them to have for kids. That doesn’t mean we excuse a poor response. It means we have to be willing to look at what contributed to it. The adult experience is directly connected to student behavior. And if we want different results in schools, we’re going to have to be willing to think differently about how we get them.

Hey Leader friends 👋🏾
Its October and its time to have a “come to Jesus” talk with your middle schoolers because the honeymoon phase is over, the energy is wild, and everyone suddenly forgets the importance of our school’s expectations!!
Am I too old for this ? 🤣😅
Who can relate? 🦋

School leadership is simple in principle.
But it demands clarity, consistency, and courage in practice.
Welcome back to the final episode of Mastering the Art of School Leadership, a series with Sumeet Mehta, Co-founder & CEO of LEAD Group.
💬Episode 30: Bring It All Together
Over the course of this journey, we have explored what it takes to build a great school. Starting with purpose, shaping a vision, building trust, developing leadership capabilities, and delivering meaningful outcomes for students.
This final episode brings these ideas together into one coherent framework for school leadership.
At its heart, leadership is about earning trust through character and competence. When leaders work on themselves, inspire those around them, and stay focused on what truly matters for students, lasting transformation becomes possible.
This episode is an invitation to pause, reflect, and identify the one area that deserves your attention right now.
Great schools are not built through isolated actions.
They are built when purpose, people, and practice come together in service of a shared vision.
