Under fire, Israel’s new immigrants step forward to rebuild From emergency medics to food rescue and global volunteers, new immigrants and civil society groups step up across Israel, sustaining daily life and frontline response as the war continues *** As Israel continues to navigate a prolonged conflict, immigrants and grassroots organizations are helping sustain both daily life and frontline response, according to participants in a special panel held on Thursday in collaboration with Nefesh B’Nefesh. The discussion, composed entirely of olim, offered a firsthand perspective on a society under pressure, yet functioning with striking continuity, driven in part by a surge in civic engagement and a renewed commitment to aliyah. Speakers from across key sectors described how new immigrants are not only integrating into Israeli society, but actively shaping its resilience. Marc Rosenberg, vice president of Diaspora Partnerships at Nefesh B’Nefesh, said interest in immigration remains strong despite the security situation. He pointed to recent arrivals as evidence of what he called a deep connection between global Jewish communities and Israel. “People want to be part of the story,” Rosenberg said. “They are coming to build their lives here and strengthen the country.” Full article on our story @nefeshbnefesh @leket_israel @magen_david_adom @yocheved.kim @swordofiron.israelvolunteer #YnetGlobal #Newimmigrants #Aliyah #MagenDavidAdom #israel #war

An update from the ground in hard-hit Beit Shemesh, Israel, where Karen Dzik — who works on JDC’s disaster relief and international development team — lives. “I’m very excited to work for an organization that cares about people and helps save lives,” Karen told us hours after hearing the direct hit on her city and witnessing its aftermath.

Introducing Lev Echad (translated to One Heart), an Israeli organization that plays a vital role in Israel's civil resilience, especially following missile attacks. Lev Echad is commeted to Community Crisis Response. Lev Echad is a leading Israeli volunteer organization dedicated to providing immediate humanitarian aid and civilian support during national emergencies, such as wars, missile strikes, and natural disasters. Lev Echad is known for Rapid Deployment Within hours of a missile strike or security escalation, the organization activates "command centers" in affected cities to coordinate local volunteer efforts. Civilian Support Volunteers assist residents by clearing out bomb shelters, delivering food and medicine to the elderly, and providing emotional "psychological first aid" to those in shock. This organization functions as Bridge to Authorities . They act as a vital link between local municipalities and the citizens, identifying gaps in service that the government may not be able to reach immediately. "One Heart" is known for it's Youth Leadership. The organization relies heavily on young leaders and pre-military academy students, channeling their energy into organized, effective community service. Why It Is Unique Unlike state-run emergency services (like the police or ambulances), Lev Echad focuses on civilian resilience. Their goal is to ensure that no individual is left alone in a crisis, fostering a sense of national unity and "one heart" during Israel's most challenging moments. While they are famous for their work during rocket barrages, they also operate internationally, having sent missions to help after the war in Ukraine and the earthquake in Morocco. #לאחד #Oneheart #Amisraelchai #Israelisstrong

At a time when Jewish communities are confronting violent attacks and heightened threats against synagogues and Jewish institutions, emergency readiness is no longer optional, it’s part of protecting our people. Recent incidents in Michigan, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and the Toronto area are a painful reminder of that reality. That’s why Unit 669 hosts the Emergency First Aid & Crisis Response Workshop: to teach communities how to save lives, manage crisis scenarios, and respond with clarity under pressure. Participants can also purchase a medical first aid kit or donate one to a family in Israel. DM or Email us to learn more. EmaiI info@afu669.org
