Spokane, Washington - the Pacific Northwest’s most underrated city! 🌲🧡
A lot of people in the Pacific Northwest love to hate on Spokane, but we moved here a year ago and we love it! 🤭
With over 87 parks, tons of hiking trails, the tallest urban waterfall in the US, AND amazing food, Spokane is the perfect destination for a weekend PNW getaway! ⛰️
See below for 7 activities you can’t miss when visiting Spokane. ⤵️
🧡 SAVE this Spokane guide and COMMENT “Lilac City” for our full weekend guide to adventuring in Spokane, or check out the 🔗 in our bio!
BOWL AND PITCHER TRAIL
🥾 Take a hike at Riverside state park along the 2.1 mile Bowl and Pitcher Loop trail, which follows a forested trail along the Spokane River.
AERIAL TRAM
🚡 Ride the SkyRide tram, which has amazing views of Spokane Falls. The audio tour on the ride is excellent! @pavilionatriverfront lionatriverfront
INDABA COFFEE
☕️ Grab a coffee at @Indabacoffee! Their seasonal drinks are incredible but my go-to is always the butterscotch latte with added sea salt!
MANITO PARK
🌸 Manito Park is famous for its 5 free gardens! Plan to spend at least a couple hours here. My favorite gardens are the Japanese garden and the Perennial garden.
RIVERFRONT PARK
💦 Take a stroll along Riverfront Park in downtown which has excellent views of the river and Spokane’s famous clock tower! Bring some trash to feed the garbage goat!
CENTENNIAL TRAIL
🚲 This multi-use path is great for walkers and bikers! Most of the path is paved and parallels the Spokane River.
LOCAL DRINKS
🍹 Enjoy delicious drinks at @dryflydistilling which creates its spirits from local grains, or try a cider flight from @locustspokane! I recommend their Chai cider.
✨FUN FACT: Washington is a HUGE producer of wheat and apples!
Have we convinced you that Spokane is cool? If you’re a Spokane local, tell us what activities we missed! 👇🏼✨

People don’t leave Spokane because they hate it. They leave because they weren’t fully prepared for what life here would actually feel like.
After 7 years working this market, I’ve watched it play out the same way.
People don’t regret Spokane. They regret how they chose it.
When someone moves here and leaves a year or two later, it’s almost always one of these four things:
1️⃣ They picked the wrong area. South Hill, Kendall Yards, Liberty Lake, Nine Mile Falls, and Spokane Valley all have a different feel, pace, and commute. Where you land matters more than people realize.
2️⃣ They underestimated the winters. It’s not just cold — it reshapes the year. Snow on the ground most days from late November through March. Daylight runs short. Grey weeks stack up.
3️⃣ They never really built a life here. No favorite coffee spot. No Sunday walk at Manito or along the Centennial Trail. No Friday night rhythm in Kendall Yards or the Perry.
4️⃣ They moved for the house, not the lifestyle. More square footage doesn’t make up for a day-to-day that doesn’t actually fit who you are.
When the lifestyle fits, this place is really hard to leave.
If you’ve thought about moving here, this is the conversation we should have before you buy.
Comment GUIDE and I’ll send you my guide to Spokane’s top neighborhoods and areas.
It's beige.

12 FUN Things To Do in Spokane, Washington 🌲🌊
🌳 1. Explore Riverfront Park
Spanning 100 acres in the heart of downtown Spokane, this is one of the best places to start exploring the city.
💦 2. See Spokane Falls
These impressive waterfalls flow right through downtown! Spokane Falls has also been harnessed for hydroelectric power since 1890.
🚠 3. Ride the SkyRide Gondola
Get an incredible close-up view of the Lower Falls as the gondola descends 200 feet through the Huntington Park Natural Area.
🕰️ 4. See the Great Northern Clocktower
This historic clocktower is one of the last remnants of Spokane’s 1902 Great Northern Railway Depot.
🐐 5. Find the Garbage Goat
This might just be the coolest trash can of all time! You can actually feed the Garbage Goat small pieces of trash.
🛞 6. Climb the Big Red Wagon
This larger-than-life wagon isn’t just for show, you can actually climb inside and slide down the handle!
🎠 7. Ride the Looff Carousel
This beautiful hand-carved carousel was built in 1909 by master carver Charles Looff and is still a Spokane favorite today.
🚂 8. Eat at Frank’s Diner
Grab a meal inside a historic old train car at this popular Spokane diner.
🚴 9. Bike or Walk the Centennial Trail
The trail stretches more than 37 miles from Riverside State Park to the Idaho border, and continues another 24 miles into Coeur d’Alene.
🥾 10. Explore Riverside State Park
Don’t miss the rocky cliffs and unique formations along the river. Our favorite stops were the Bowl and Pitcher and its suspension bridge.

Try some of their classic and inventive tacos. The 20-hour carne asada taco was seriously delicious!

Spokane has a great craft beer scene. We loved the patio at YaYa Brewing, the rustic atmosphere at Whistle Punk, the cozy vibe at Precious Things Fermentation Project, and the unique pizzas at For the Love of God Brewing.
