Concerns are growing over course and job cuts for TasTAFE as the institute targets $45 million in savings.
Its boss says it’s spending more than its earning – but many fear it may drive young people out of the state to pursue their trade qualifications.

This week we held our Girls In Power program! Girls In Power is all about encouraging young Tasmanians to give STEM a go 💡
Over two days we welcomed students into one of our hydropower stations, got hands on at TasTAFE, tried out speed careering and heard directly from people working in the industry! Thanks to Day of AI, students also got a taste of what an AI-powered future might look like ⚡️
Here’s to the next generation of women in STEM 🙌

We are proud to celebrate the successful delivery of our Traffic Management course ➡️ Direct the Way ⬅️
All made possible through our collaboration with Workforce Australia, AKG, Workskills, Asuria, Spectran, HRWS, TasTAFE, Wicked Workwear, Bank of US and SPR Conditioning.
This holistic program was designed to set participants up for long-term success in traffic management roles by providing additional supports and essential ticketing. Alongside traffic management training, participants completed Manual Handling, First Aid and Observer/Spotter units, ensuring they are job-ready, confident, healthy (physically and financially) and equipped to work safely on site.
Master Builders are excited to see these graduates out on traffic sites across Tasmania and are grateful to our partners and participants for the opportunity to deliver such a comprehensive, high-quality program that supports real pathways into employment!
