One of Oregon’s coolest secret spots! 🌊✨ At Hug Point, a fresh waterfall pours right onto the sandy beach surrounded by ancient sandstone sea caves. (Just make sure to check the tide tables before visiting so you don’t get trapped by the waves! ⚠️)

I don’t know who needs to see this, but if you want to experience the best of Oregon without the crowds, this is the exact itinerary I use every single fall. 👣
Save this list for your weekend group chat:
1. Get lost on Sauvie Island: Skip the city and hit The Pumpkin Patch for the massive Corn Maize and fresh caramel apples.
2. Drive the Hood River Fruit Loop: 35 scenic miles of U-pick apples, pear dumplings, and local hard cider tasting flights.
3. Catch the Japanese Maples: The Portland Japanese Garden in October is arguably the most stunning fall foliage spot on the West Coast.
4. The West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta: Head to Tualatin to watch costumed locals paddle 1,000-pound hollowed-out gourds across a lake. It’s peak Oregon weird.
5. Drink Fresh Hop Beer: Fall means fresh hop season in PDX. Hit up local spots like StormBreaker or Prost! Marketplace.
6. Hike Hoyt Arboretum: Hit the Maple-Wildwood Loop to experience crisp air and bright yellow and orange leaves right inside the city limits.
7. Get spooky in Halloweentown: Take a quick trip up to St. Helens and visit the actual movie set from the Disney classic.
8. Eat at Sugarpine Drive-In: The absolute best post-hike stop in Troutdale for a decadent, seasonal fall sundae.
9. Hike Latourell Falls: Experience the mossy Columbia Gorge trails now that the peak summer crowds have finally thinned out.
10. See Multnomah Falls in the Fall: Oregon’s tallest waterfall is somehow even better when it’s framed by red and gold autumn foliage.
11. The October Gorge Hack: Here is the best secret about fall in the Gorge-the state parking permit requirement officially ended on Labor Day. You can finally drive the Historic Highway and visit the waterfalls without fighting a digital booking system.
We can’t wait to drive you again next summer, but for now, go take your waterfalls back! 🌲✨
