🍰✨ Everyone has heard of Uncle Tetsu, or at least heard of jiggly Japanese cheesecakes, so obviously when we were in Osaka we just had to try it out! But heads up – this isn’t the rich, dense cheesecake you might be used to. Instead, Uncle Tetsu’s version offers a delicate texture that practically disintegrates in your mouth, with a slight eggy aftertaste. It’s a fun experience if you’re in the mood for a light dessert that’s not too sweet. Or just drop by and watch the mesmerising jiggle of the cakes, and the expert bakers that are constantly mixing, stirring and baking with such precision! (I also just remembered that Melbourne has an Uncle Tetsu in the CBD! COIN EXCHANGE 2025 🪙 It was no coincidence that I was at Aberdeen...to check out @canadianmint's two-day coin exchange, held at @oomomo_bc's Canada Post Office. The event releases three 2025 commemorative circulation coins (all colourized): 🔷 2025 $1 coin – honouring the 150th Anniversary of the Supreme Court of Canada 🔷 2025 $2 coin – honouring Canada’s Unknown Soldier 🔷 2025 $2 coin – celebrating the Life and Art of Daphne Odjig ___ Reminiscing my previous experience, I had left empty-handed at last year's coin exchange, because of the huge lineup that wrapped from Oomomo's side door outside all the way to Uncle Tetsu. It left many people standing in the cold for an indefinite period of time. This year's coin exchange was ticketed and well organized. 🔶 First lineup (outside Aberdeen, at Oomomo's side door): obtain a ticket 🔶 Second lineup (inside Aberdeen, at Oomomo 1/F entrance): be present at the time shown on ticket; late arrivals of more than 15 mins will result in ticket cancellation 🔶 Third lineup (inside Oomomo, at Canada Post Office): get ticket & money ready for the coin exchange The queue was efficient, with helpful staff monitoring the crowd and answering questions. I was in and out within 30 minutes 👏. For those retailers and businesses who are planning events and expecting a good turnout, implementing a ticket system is the way to go! With the ticket, each person can redeem a maximum of three sets of coins ($5 per set of three coins x 3 = $15 total). ___ . . .
