- Bamburgh Castle – My favourite North East castle, standing proud on the coast.
- Lindisfarne Castle – A gem on Holy island, worth checking the tide times twice for, because missing this one isn’t an option!
- Dunstanburgh Castle – Can be a bit of a windy walk to get there, but the dramatic ruins at the end make it totally worth it.
- Alnwick Castle – Harry Potter learned to fly here and if you walk along it from across the river it is absolutely gorgeous!
- Warkworth Castle – Quiet, underrated, and the perfect spot to just sit for a minute and take it all in.

Siamo nel Northumberland National Park, nel cuore più selvaggio dell’Inghilterra, lungo il leggendario Vallo di Adriano.
📍 Si parte da Steel Rigg
📏 Circa 6,5 km ad anello
⏱ 2 ore tranquille
È uno di quei percorsi dove ogni passo ha senso: segui il tracciato del Vallo tra creste spettacolari, passi per il celebre Sycamore Gap (anche oggi, senza il suo albero simbolo, resta un luogo fortissimo), e arrivi sopra Crag Lough, un lago glaciale incastrato sotto pareti rocciose.
Quello che colpisce davvero è il contrasto: da una parte la storia romana, dall’altra un paesaggio quasi “nordico”, aperto e silenzioso.
È il classico posto dove vieni per una passeggiata e finisci per restare fermo più del previsto, solo per guardarti intorno.
