YWCA는 여성과 지역사회를 위해
수십 년째 묵묵히 자리를 지켜온 단체입니다.
바자회 수익금은 지역 취약계층 지원에 쓰입니다.
현수막도, 유세차도 없었습니다.
그냥 사람들 사이에 섰습니다.
손때 묻은 물건을 고르는 어머니,
한켠에서 웃음 짓는 어르신들.
그 일상 속에서 다시 한번 느꼈습니다.
교육은 강단 위에 있지 않습니다.
이 골목 안에, 이 사람들 곁에 있습니다.
화려하게 시작하지 않아도 됩니다.
첫 번째 자리는 언제나 시민 곁입니다.
이름이 아닌 이력으로,
간판이 아닌 실력으로.

Eight outstanding women were welcomed into the YWCA Mohawk Valley’s Salute Academy during the 37th annual Salute to Outstanding Women ceremony in Whitesboro on Thursday, March 26. The event celebrates women making a difference in the community and advancing a mission of empowering women and promoting “peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.”
YWCA CEO Diane Stancato stated that the Salute to Outstanding Women has fostered a community that unites annually to uplift and celebrate one another.
