What do you think about zoo photography? �I often hear people say that zoo photography is overrated, basically cheating, or just a lazy shortcut. To me, it’s simply a more accessible way to capture stunning animal photos without having to book an expensive flight to the other side of the world — something not everyone can do or afford. Yes, many of the animals are born and raised in captivity, and the environments are carefully managed. That fact seems to make the whole niche instantly suspicious in the eyes of some photographers. But here’s the thing: as long as the animals are well cared for, I don’t see why that should automatically make the photographs any less valid or beautiful. Suns out tongues out ☀️ Okapis have really long, prehensile tongues which means they're made for gripping leaves high out of reach. They even use them to wash their faces and clean inside their own ears. Get a a closer look at an okapi tongue and take a stroll to visit Upepo on the African Loop at the Safari Park. #upepo #okapi #sdzsafaripark

I’m shortlisted in the PEOPLE’s CHOICE AWARD for Australia Zoo’s 2026 Crikey Photography Competition for this photograph I took of a beautiful mum and joey Bennett’s Wallaby at Cradle Mountain, Tasmania! The light cream colouration that these Wallabies have is a specific colour form (possibly a recessive gene) and it only seems to be found at Cradle Mountain.
