在年假造訪了阿里山，沿路的風景是肉眼看到會感動的極致壯麗。短短7分鐘的小火車車程，也能看遍世界級美景！
很喜歡從沼平站下車，步行經過姐妹潭、受鎮宮、穿梭神木群的這一段路，層巒疊嶂、日光灑落林間的畫面，如同仙境般美好。
能這樣靜靜吸收芬多精，與親身體驗被山林擁抱的感受，此生一定要來過一次。

All aboard one of the most magical train rides in Taiwan 🚂🌿
The Alishan Forest Railway is one of Taiwan’s most iconic rail journeys, originally built over a century ago during the Japanese era to transport timber from the mountains. Today, it’s famous for its scenic route that winds through misty forests, tunnels, and steep mountain slopes.
🚂 How the train works
The full railway traditionally runs from Chiayi → Alishan, climbing from near sea level into the mountains. Parts of the line were damaged by typhoons over the years, so currently the most common experience is taking the train from Chiayi to Fenqihu, and then continuing to Alishan by road.
Inside Alishan Forest Recreation Area, there are also smaller forest trains that run between scenic spots like Sacred Tree, Shenmu, Zhaoping and Zhushan (which is what I took).
📅 Does it run daily?
Yes, trains generally operate daily, but schedules can change due to weather or maintenance, so it’s best to check the timetable or book tickets in advance.
✨ Things to do in Alishan
• Watch the famous Alishan sunrise above the sea of clouds 🌥️
• Walk among giant ancient cedar trees 🌲
• Ride the forest railway branch lines inside the park 🚂
• Try Alishan high-mountain tea 🫖
• Visit Fenqihu Old Street for local snacks and railway bento boxes 🍱
It’s easily one of the most unique ways to experience Taiwan’s mountain scenery. 🫶🏻
The best season to visit the Alishan Forest falls between November and April, when it rains less.

📍Alishan - Chiayi, Taiwan 🇹🇼 Save these for when you go, cos you should.
Day 2: traveled from Alishan to Chiayi making sure to do a lot along the way:
1- the Formosensis train
2- Fenchihu village: Japanese era village with must try bento boxes, as well as other treats, there’s also a small but mighty railway museum.
3- Alishan is tea country, so don’t only try the tea, learn the proper way to make Oolong, black tea, white tea, and more.
4- Don’t skip Smartfish fish head soup once you make it to Chiayi
5- night markets are non negotiable. Go.

Coastal towns, waterfalls, tea fields, and roads that make you want to pull over every five minutes.
Taipei is incredible, but Taiwan’s magic really unfolds when you go beyond the capital.
Some of my favorite memories weren’t in the big city at all. They were a train ride, a bus ride, or a scenic drive away.
If you’re planning Taiwan, give yourself permission to explore further. You’d be surprised what kind of landscapes, culture, and quiet moments are waiting just outside the city.

I’m currently exploring Taiwan for six days, and I’m excited to share my adventures with you! The Alishan (or Mount Ali) Sakura Trail is a fantastic place to see cherry blossoms from late February to March. The trees are absolutely beautiful right now. The trail takes you on scenic walks through blooming cherry trees, tea plantations, and bamboo forests. Thank you so much @taiwantourism.na

If there’s one trip you need to make while in Taiwan, it’s to the magical Alishan Forest! 🌲
We rode the iconic Alishan Forest Railway 🚂 deep into the misty mountains to Sacred Tree Station—home to an ancient 3,000-year-old cypress surrounded by towering forests. The whole place feels like a Studio Ghibli movie… so tranquil!
✨ After hiking the trails, we checked in to Long Yun Farm, a beautiful stay surrounded by oolong tea fields & wrapped the day with one of the most stunning sunsets I’ve ever seen.
The next morning started with a peaceful tea ceremony in the forest 🫖 & on our way out we stopped at the Sakura Trail for cherry blossoms before enjoying classic Alishan mountain cuisine for lunch—still surrounded by oolong tea fields!
