My favourite DIY baby activity! My 4 month old loved feeling and tapping the balloons with her hands while watching them move. Having the balloons dangled above her, made it a fun and engaging sensory experience. #balloonplay #babyplay #diyplayideas #diybabyplay #sensoryplay
My 6 month old is obsessed with these spinners and they’d be perfect for an Easter basket filler!👶🏼🐰 #babyplay #babytoy #babymilestone #6monthsold #babyactivities

Here’s what you can do to support them 👇 This was literally her at 2am the other night too 😅 There are so many milestones going on at this age and they are so driven to explore the world around them and move! Hi 👋🏻 my name is Brit and I’m an occupational therapist + mama of 3 here to provide education about development, purposeful play, and feeding to make the lives of parents and children everywhere more ✨ FUNctional ✨ Sometimes listening to our baby’s body and trying to follow their lead can be SO confusing- can’t it? You start trying to work on sitting because it’s “next” in line for them developmentally but they always seem like they want to EXTEND that little body and be up on their feet. 🤷🏻‍♀️ If it’s what they are doing it MUST be because they are ready for it, right? WRONG 🚫 They aren’t doing this intentionally because their body is ready to stand - they’re doing it REFLEXIVELY! ⏰ Around the age when baby’s first start practicing sitting (~5-6mos) their bodies are still learning how to control their core and trunk to find balance in those upright positions Their bodies compensate for their lack of control by EXTENDING and being in a standing position allows them to find stability through their hips, knees- relying on bones and joints for control instead of just muscles 🏃🏼‍♀️ So….. Don’t let this fool you into facilitating them in standing too early! 🕵️ Instead, find ways to support them in sitting and higher level prone positions to better develop their core and trunk strength to support them through the sitting and crawling that are meant to come next 👏🏻 👀 Stay tuned for my reel tomorrow going over ways to help with this during sitting practice! #babyplay #babymilestones #babydevelopment #parentingtips #parentinghacks #newparents #newmom #firsttimemom #momlife #firsttimeparents #babyplay #momsofinstagram #parentsofinstagram #momlife #sahm
How old is your baby?👶🏻 #momsofinstagram #momlife #babyactivities #sensoryplay #babyplay
They tell us we need this. The noises, the flashing aisles. the “educational” toys. The feeling that if we don’t buy it, our baby is missing out. But when you really watch a baby play, you realise how little they actually need. They don’t need more toys. They need better ones. Ones that don’t interrupt them. Ones that let them think. ✨❤️ #openendedplay #openendedtoys #babyplay #ourplayfullhome #playroomideas
💌 Save this, thank me later ⤵️ If you’re wondering how to actually play with your 4-month-old (without overthinking every wake window), this one’s for you. This is the stage where simple tummy time and black-and-white cards may start to feel less engaging. Rolling is on the horizon (or already happening), and sitting feels close enough that it’s tempting to rush it. Here are 6️⃣ play ideas for your 4-month-old to support their development: ⬆️ Pull to sitting Builds core strength, head control, and helps baby organize movement through midline - all important things for future sitting and rolling! 🪑 Supported sitting (Or prop sitting with a Boppy in front) Encourages trunk activation, visual exploration, and early balance reactions. 🔄 Rolling practice Rolling in and out of tummy time helps baby learn weight shifting, rotation, and how to move their body with intention. 🤍 Tummy time Any way you can! You can also try a ball if tummy time is hard Strengthens the neck, shoulders, and back while setting the foundation for rolling and crawling. 🧸 Reaching & grabbing toys (and bringing them to their mouth) Builds coordination, midline play, and early oral exploration. This can be done in so many positions like on your lap or with baby on their back. BONUS (not shown) 👣 Finding their feet / feet-to-hands play This encourages core activation, body awareness, and helps prep baby for rolling! You don’t need to do all of these every day. Pick one or two to focus on during each wake window and let the rest of the time be connection & cuddles.
