Well, if this isn't visual proof you can absolutely get married on top of a mountain with your dog right there next to you.... 🐾
Truth: We're dog people with two big dogs at home ourselves (our little malinois cross joined our pack last spring and does she EVER keep us on our toes haha) so if you ask us if you should include your dog... the answer will always be YES.
We've had SIX elopements with dogs so far this year (and counting), so we know a thing or two about it.🥹
A few things to know if a dog friendly elopement or wedding is calling your name (since we've done this more than a few times!):
1) choose a trail your dog can actually handle (we help you with that, and I will ask you all about your dog and your past adventures together to help figure out what trails and spots they can manage. Bonus points if they join our video planning calls 🐶)
2) Have a backup plan if the weather turns (we always do!!)
3) Bring a friend along to handle your pup if they need it (or hire someone to help you - we also have recommendations for that!)
4) Bring a puppy layer for them. The summits can be chilly. I did lend my puff coat to a dog a few weeks ago.... and would do it again, but I do think they like having their own blanket. 😉
5) Trail snacks and water. Not just for the humans!!
Anyways. Bring the dog. Plan your elopement. We’ll make it all happen and meet you at the trailhead. 🏔️

Thing is, you can’t just drive up whenever you fancy. If Moraine Lake is on your elopement vision board, here’s what you need to know:
• It’s only open when the road is clear and conditions are safe - around June to Oct
• There is no public car access. You cannot drive your own vehicle
• You get there by Parks Canada shuttle, Roam bus, or a commercial tour.
