We’ve had so much fun exploring the rugged coastline around the southernmost lighthouse in NSW. Green Cape, you will be missed. We took these few days as an opportunity to relax - no school work and no place-based education. We did do some language lessons (we’re learning Portuguese in preparation for 2024), but other than that we swam, drank wine, spear fished and listened to music around the fire. #travellingaustraliawithteens #travellingwithteens #greencape #greencapelighthouse #beowanationalpark #nswnationalparks #beachcamp #lighthouse #familytime #noschool

Perched above the rugged coastline of Twofold Bay, Ben Boyd’s Tower stands as a silent sentinel of Australia’s maritime past. Constructed in 1847 by Scottish entrepreneur Benjamin Boyd, the tower was intended as a lighthouse but was never completed due to financial troubles. Instead, it served as a whale-spotting lookout during the booming whaling era. Built from Pyrmont sandstone, each block was pre-cut and shipped from Sydney, showcasing remarkable 19th-century engineering.
